Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you based and will you travel?
My studio is based in Austin, Texas, but I'm very happy to travel. Venues within approximately 50 miles of Austin are covered in all package pricing - this includes Round Rock, San Marcos, the Greater Austin metro area, and much of Central Texas Hill Country. If your wedding involves longer distances let's discuss it. I love the opportunity to shoot destination weddings, and my package options include travel and coverage to accommodate these.
How does the pre-booking process work?
The photographer you choose will likely be the only wedding vendor that is with you your entire wedding day, so it's extremely important to me that we're a good fit for each other. Part of forming that relationship involves sitting down to meet in person or via Skype prior to booking. We can use this time to answer any questions you may have, flip through sample albums or photos, and more. Contact me to receive the pricing and packages brochure and to schedule an initial consultation.
How do we book you?
If you have decided that I'm the right fit for you, you can book me! To secure your date I require a $750 deposit and a signed contract confirming agreed-upon details. The rest of the payment will be due a week before your big day. You can pay this in installments if you wish, using any major credit or debit card, PayPal, check, or cash. Typically we meet a second time before the wedding date to discuss wedding details so I can be fully prepared for the day.
What is the engagement portrait session?
The engagement portrait shoot is a wedding package add-on that I highly recommend. This session can take place anytime before your wedding and it gives us a chance to have a practice run to get comfortable in a more relaxed setting before the big day. I'm happy to provide location suggestions in the Greater Austin area or we can work to make your vision a reality.
Who will be photographing our wedding?
Me! I personally shoot every wedding I book. All of my packages include a second photographer who will also be present to shoot the wedding with me and assist where necessary.
What gear do you shoot with?
I photograph with the latest Canon professional digital equipment and I'm happy to share details if interested.
Do you have backup gear?
For every wedding I bring two camera bodies, several lenses, many extra flash cards and extra accessories. My second shooter will also bring another full set of equipment. We have backups for our backups.
When will our images be available?
I will have your images to you within 8 weeks. Each of them will be lovingly processed and some of them artworked.
How many images will we receive?
This will vary from wedding to wedding, but at a minimum you can expect to receive 500 high-resolution images. An 8-hour wedding day shoot will typically result in around 600 images while a longer shoot can have as many as 800 or more. For engagement and other portrait shoots, you will receive a minimum of 75 images.
How will we receive the images?
Your images will be placed in an online, password-protected gallery for your friends and family to view and optionally purchase prints. In addition, you will be given a USB drive with printable high-resolution images, along with low-resolution images for web and social media. I'm happy to meet in person for the initial viewing and delivery.
How can we get prints of our images?
Prints can be ordered directly through me and via your private online proofing gallery. You will receive a print pricing guide before you book your wedding with me so you know what to expect. You are also more that welcome to print the high-resolution images yourself. However you choose do it, I highly recommend printing! There is nothing quite like having an image in your hand or on your wall.
Will you archive our images?
All of the images delivered to you will be backed up and archived in a redundant setup and in multiple physical locations. I take your data protection seriously; if for any unforeseen reason you need to retrieve your images from me again in the future, you can be assured they will be available. I currently archive all client images for a minimum of 2 years. I'm happy to share details of my archiving strategy if interested.
Will we have the rights to our photos?
You will be granted personal usage rights to print and share the photos for any non-commercial purpose. I will retain the copyright on the images, which could be used for marketing and for-profit sale and reproduction.
Do you offer wedding albums?
Yes! Albums are the storybook of your wedding and are a beautiful way to display your images. They are not included in the base package but can be purchased at an additional cost. Each album is personally artworked and designed by me and handmade by Queensberry in New Zealand, one of the highest-quality album manufacturers in the world. You will have a chance to flip through a full sample album during our initial consultation and an album can be purchased at anytime before or after your wedding. You can click here to view an example of one of my albums.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes, my studio is a licensed business in the state of Texas and I have full liability insurance. I am also a member of the Professional Photographers of America (PPA).
